Consortium Stipends

There are approximately 17 institutions of higher education (IHEs) in Alabama with special education program certification. Each IHE receives stipends based on their enrollment to provide support for teachers to become certified in special education. Additional stipends are given to the Historically Black Colleges and Universities for minority students and for students to become certified in hearing impairment and visual impairment.
  • The amount of stipend awards is $4000 per student.
  • An additional $2000 per student in stipend awards is available for minority students.
